ANU Computer Science Technical Reports

Technical Details

The data for the ANU Computer Science Technical Reports page is currently held in a single BibTeX file. The BibTeX file contains extra fields, such as "abstract", as well as some which are used as flags to determine whether certain links should generated. The entries are sorted in reverse chronological order.

A script (shell, grep, sed) is used to find out what years there are reports for, as well as extracting keys that are relevant to the lists being constructed.

BibTeX, used in conjunction with some custom style files, produces the HTML for the lists of technical reports and their abstracts, including all the links. Scripts are used to add headers and footers to the HTML files, and to substitute HTML character sequences for certain LaTeX and plain text sequences which have better representations in HTML. Much of the script which performs the substitutions is taken from bib2html by David Hull <hull@cs.uiuc.edu>.

We would be interested in hearing of similar, or alternative, methods for maintaining a page such as ours. We would also be interested in providing our "software" to people who are interested.
