Sydney-Canberra Surface Transport

There are, of course, a good number of direct buses and trains operating between Sydney and canberra. Both these modes of travel take about 4 hours (Downtown Sydney to Downtown Canberra). This compares with 45 mins by plane not including time to get to the airport. Surface transport is very much cheaper that air travel (tens of dollars instead of hundreds of dollars Both buses and trains can be caught at Central Railway Station in Sydney.

Murray's BUSES

At least on the days of Saturday 26, Sunday 27 and Monday 28, Murrays runs 3 buses. They are at 0845, 1300 and 1800 . The cost is A$28 single or A$54 return. The phone number for reservations and enquiries is 13 22 51 (Canberra or Sydney)

Greyhound/Pioneer BUSES

On the weekend 26-27th Sept., there are these services: 0800, 0930, 1015. 1500 and 1600. The single fare is A$28 and return is A$54. They have a special phone number, 13 20 30, which is OK for both

The Train

This is always the most relaxed form of travel. Three trains leave from Sydney to Canberra every day, departing Central Railway Station at 0743, 1143, 1814. The tickets are a bit more more expensive at A$42 (economy) and A$A$58 for 1st class. There is a Phone number - 13 22 32 and also an email address: bookings@countrylink.nsw.gov.au
