Research interests:The main topics of Hanna's current and past research are developing and evaluating methods and applications of machine learning, mathematical modelling, and natural language processing (NLP). Duties:Hanna works as a senior researcher in machine learning at NICTA Canberra Research Laboratory, Australia. She also holds an adjunct researcher fellowship in the Australian National University, College of Engineering and Computer Science, and professional associate position in the University of Canberra, Faculty of Health in Canberra, Australia. | |||||||||||||||||||
Bio:Hanna is an Assistant Editor of the Journal of Pattern Recognition Research and Reviewer for the Artificial Intelligence in Medicine, International Journal of Medical Informatics, Journal of Biomedical Semantics, and Transactions on Intelligent Systems and Technology. She has (co-)chaired the CLEF 2013 shared task and Louhi 2013 and CLEF 2012 workshops on health language processing and served programme committees of the International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence, European Conference on Information Retrieval, European Conference on Research and Advanced Technology for Digital Libraries, and International Conference on Natural Language Processing. She has worked in the Finnish national positron emission centre and taught numerous university courses on bioinformatics, document analysis, information systems in healthcare, and mathematics. She is an active member of the Occupational Health and Safety Committee at NICTA, Women@NICTA, and Google Girl Geeks Coffee Club.
