What is CS?Computer Science is the study of ways to advance the principles behind the engineering of software, hardware and information systems. It is a constructive science with experimental and mathematically theoretical sides. Computer scientists study, build, analyse and report on new designs for computers, databases, communication systems, programming languages and algorithms for programs. What is IT?Information Technology is all aspects of computing, data storage and communications. IT people solve technical, organisational and management problems involving information - collecting information, storing it, using it and retrieving it from storage. IT peoples' tools include computer programs, databases, application programs, communication networks, analysis and design methods, programming languages and knowledge bases. What is SE?Software Engineering is the organised craft of constructing complex groups of programs. It is all the human and team activities of programming computer systems for specific purposes. It involves analysing real world problems, designing program, programming, testing, documenting and making later modifications. The basic skills are programming, team interaction, clear thinking, communicating to users, analysts and other software engineers. What is IS?Information Systems means the complex ways in which computer systems are meshed with organisations. Information systems people analyse and design systems for the flow, storage and use of data to suit the needs of organisations in business, government and finance. The basic skills are clear thinking, analysis and communicating to users and organisations. |
