The Australian National University (ANU) has established the 3A Institute (Autonomy, Agency and Assurance) in collaboration with CSIRO's Data61 to tackle the complex problems around artificial intelligence, data and technology and managing their impact on humanity.
This Institute will be led by ANU Professor Genevieve Bell, one of the world's leading technologists and will drive innovation, research and policy responses into the future. It will ensure ANU is well placed to prepare and respond to future, global technological challenges
The aims of the 3A Institute are to build a new applied science to manage a data-rich, data-driven techno-economic landscape by:
- Building a new intellectual agenda;
- Taking an interdisciplinary and cross-sector approach to making a new disciplinary framework, approach and discourse; and
- Developing a new range of certifications, skill sets and programs of research and teaching.
The 3A Institute will establish a suite of distinctive critical questions and a clear intellectual agenda in the emerging field, a first cohort of engaged scholars, and a first wave of certified practitioners.
