Launch an Idea, Launch a Start-Up, Launch a Career
In 2015, the ANU Computing Group Project courses evolved into the TechLauncher initiative. This has been a great success and we learned a great deal. In 2016 we will build on what we have learned as well as extensive feedback we have had from students and industry to improve the program.
TechLauncher is an ANU initiative which enables students from any discipline to develop the research and professional skills required to use technology to bring great ideas to life and have a positive impact on our society.
These skills include communication and stakeholder management, critical thinking, design, teamwork (including multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural and distributed teamwork), time management and many other generic skills required by employers in industry and government as well as by the research community.
Students develop these skills by working within a context that is much broader than the ANU. They work closely with industry professionals, technology experts and entrepreneurs across the ACT to complete projects addressing complex problems in a variety of disciplines and industries, or to create their own start-up enterprises. It is this context and breadth of involvement that provides our students with a deeply engaged and effective learning environment.
ANU students studying any degree in any discipline can participate in TechLauncher.

It is with the support of local industry; the local innovation sector; the ACT Government Innovation, Trade and Investment (ITI) branch; Digital Careers; and an ANU Linkage for Learning and Teaching Grant that we have been able to broaden the opportunities for students to engage with people and organisations across the university and external community. We thank our sponsors for their continued support.
