Mr Anushka Vidanage

I am a PhD student in the Research School of Computer Science at the Australian National University.  My research interests are focused on privacy-preserving record linkage (PPRL) attacks. PPRL is the process of linking records in databases from different sources, while at the same time, preserving the privacy of the individual entities stored in those databases. Recently, PPRL has gained a lot of attention from different organisations around the world, and therefore many techniques have been proposed to preserve the privacy of record linkage. In my research study, I explore the potential attacks, such as frequency, cryptanalysis, and brute force attacks that might lead to expose, alter, destroy, or steal unauthorised information from databases even when PPRL techniques have been applied.

Currently, I am working on Bloom filter (BF) related attacks where I investigate on how analysing bit patterns can lead to uncover encoded information in databases.

My supervisors are Peter Christen, Thilina Ranbaduge, and Rainer Schnell.

My research interests generally lie in the areas of data mining and record linkage (also known as entity resolution). I am especially interested in security and privacy aspects of record linkage (privacy-preserving record linkage) and potential attacks on PPRL based techniques.
