Menkes van den Briel is a member of the optimization group at NICTA. Menkes is an operations research professional with a PhD in Industrial Engineering from Arizona State University. His main research interests are in combinatorial optimization, mathematical programming, and automated planning and scheduling, but he has also worked in other areas and applications. His past work on airplane boarding was cited on the front page of The Wall Street Journal and in numerous other media including The New York Times, Wired, and NPR.
